Stecon Group Public Company Limited (SET: STECON), has informed the Stock Exchange of Thailand that Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Public Company Limited, a subsidiary of STECON has notified that an incident occurred involving the collapse of the steel roof structure of the Aerial Line Training Yard, which is one of the seven buildings within the ST-TC Joint Venture’s MEA Training Center project, on February 9, 2026 at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Preliminary assessments indicate that the incident was caused by abnormally strong gusting winds from a localized windstorm in the Bang Sao Thong Subdistrict, Bang Phli District, resulting in the collapse of the steel roof structure of the aerial training area. The incident occurred within the construction site of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority and therefore did not affect the general public or surrounding communities. There were no missing persons and no fatalities.
The joint venture confirmed that the construction work has been carried out in strict compliance with approved designs and engineering principles, under continuous supervision by construction controllers and representatives of the project owner. The structural damage is estimated at approximately THB 15 million, which is covered by construction insurance.
The joint venture will proceed with replacement construction and complete the works in accordance with the contractual schedule, and a detailed investigation into the cause of the incident is currently underway in collaboration with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority and other relevant authorities.
ST-TC Joint Venture is a joint venture between Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Public Company Limited (ST) holding a 70% stake and Transcode Company Limited (TC) holding a 30% stake. The subsidiary is the contractor for the MEA Training Center project of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority in Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province, with a total project value of approximately THB 1,185 million (comprising 7 buildings).
