US Seizes Iranian Vessel amid Rising Tensions; Tehran Vows Response

The United States has intercepted and seized an Iranian cargo vessel attempting to bypass its maritime blockade, prompting Iran to warn of imminent retaliation. At the same time, Iran announced its refusal to join a new round of peace negotiations, casting further doubt on regional stability just days before the current ceasefire is set to end.

According to a statement from the US military, American forces engaged the Iranian-flagged ship as it neared the port of Bandar Abbas in Iran. President Donald Trump stated via social media that the US now has full control of the vessel and is inspecting its contents.

Iran’s armed forces reported that the ship was traveling from China and condemned the US actions as armed piracy. A spokesperson for the Iranian military, quoted by state media, warned that a response from Iran would soon follow.

State media in Tehran also confirmed that Iran has declined to participate in additional peace talks. Officials cited the continuing blockade, heightened rhetoric from Washington, and what they described as unreasonable US demands as reasons for their decision.

First Vice President Mohammadreza Aref stated on social media that restricting Iranian oil exports while expecting stability elsewhere is untenable. He stressed that global energy security cannot be selective and warned that refusing access to the oil market would carry consequences.

The prospects for a renewed ceasefire and diplomatic progress remain uncertain as the negotiating window nears its scheduled close.
