The Intellectual Property Agency (“ the IP Agency”) has issued Announcement No. (1/2025), confirming that it will begin accepting applications for the establishment of Collective Management Organizations (CMOs) for copyright and related rights starting 16 July 2025.
This follows the implementation of the Regulations on the Establishment of CMOs, effective 6 August 2024. For a full summary of these Regulations, please refer to our previous legal insight here.
In addition, on 28 February 2025, the IP Agency, with the approval of the Ministry of Commerce, issued a notification determining the fees for the establishment and renewal of CMOs. We have also published a detailed insight into this fee notification, available here.
Organizations seeking to operate as CMOs for copyright or related rights should take note of the 16 July 2025 application opening date. Interested parties are advised to review the applicable regulations and fee requirements in advance.
