European Stocks Plummet on Escalated Tension after Russia Invades Ukraine

European stock markets made a sharp plunge at the open on Thursday amid high tension after Russia made an advancement into Ukraine this morning.

As of 15:50 local time in Thailand, DAX plunged 3.66%, FTSE fell 2.47%, CAC dropped 3.13% and STOXX600 decreased 2.69%.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s SET Index fell more than 33 points or 1.98% to 1,662.84 points.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin said this morning that he had authorized a military operation in Ukraine. He warned that any intervention from outside will face immediate responses that never have had before in history.

U.S. President Joe Biden condemned Putin’s move, saying that the world will hold Russia accountable for its action.
