On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, serving as the interim Prime Minister, presided over a relief donation ceremony to aid victims of recent disasters along the Thai-Cambodian border.
Mr. Keeree Kanjanapas, Chairman of BTS Group Holdings Public Company Limited (SET: BTS), met with senior government officials and presented a donation of 50 million baht designated for relief and recovery efforts for those impacted along the border. This sum was provided directly to the government to support rehabilitation and welfare programs for affected communities.
Mr. Keeree, who has been closely monitoring the border situation, shared his perspective on the importance of private sector involvement in supporting national security personnel and disaster victims. While direct action may be limited, he emphasized the significant impact of moral support and collective action.
Additionally, he revealed plans to visit military units the following day to present another 50 million baht, bringing the total donation for border relief efforts to 100 million baht. These contributions aim to boost morale among soldiers and reinforce public solidarity as Thailand navigates challenges along its border.
Mr. Keeree encouraged the public to contribute to relief initiatives in any way possible, highlighting that even small gestures can combine to create powerful nationwide support for those serving and safeguarding the country and urging citizens to show tangible support, whether through donations or participating in community-driven assistance programs.
