Market Roundup 28 October 2026

Thailand’s SET Index closed at 1,566.10 points, decreasing by 8.92 points or 0.57%, with a trading value of THB 65.44 billion. The analyst stated that the Thai stock market underperformed its regional peers due to domestic factors, especially as the energy sector was pressured by the government’s oil prices structure revision, as well as the week-on-week decline of Chinese tourist arrivals.

However, buying interest in the banking sector, following the Monetary Policy Committee decision to maintain interest rates and upgrade Thailand’s GDP forecast, partially cushioned the retreat.

For next week, the analyst expects the Thai market to move sideways, recommending investors closely monitor the Federal Reserve’s rate decision.

Thailand’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) unanimously voted to maintain the policy rate at 1.00%. The central bank noted that due to an uneven economic recovery, rising inflation risks from higher oil prices and El Niño, and continued weakness in SME lending, policy makers will keep close monitoring on these issues. Meanwhile, the Thai central bank projects economic growth of 2.4% in 2026 and 2.1% in 2027.

Thailand tourism statistics from January 1 to October 24, 2026 showed that cumulative foreign tourist arrivals reached 24.93 million, down 4.43% year-on-year. Revenue generated from foreign tourists was THB 1.21 trillion, a decrease of 2.68%. Meanwhile, domestic tourism accumulated 165.54 million person-trips, up 2.02% from the same period last year, generating THB 971,838 million in revenue, an increase of 2.60%.

Israel faced an unresolved contest for government, with television exit polls putting both Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s alliance and the opposition led by Gadi Eisenkot below a parliamentary majority. Failure to assemble a coalition could trigger another election, leaving Netanyahu’s administration in a caretaker role without the power to make major policy changes.
