RCL and TTA Rally as Shipping Rates Strengthen ahead of High Season

The share price of Regional Container Lines Public Company Limited (SET: RCL) rose 4.42% this morning to THB 29.50 as of 10:50 AM. Meanwhile, Thoresen Thai Agencies Public Company Limited (SET: TTA) gained 1.78% to THB 4.58 per share.

Analysts at Aira Securities anticipate RCL will benefit from positive sentiment as shipping rates trend higher entering the high season, giving a boost to the Container Index, which has recently stabilized at 2,104 USD per 40-foot container.

Strategically, Aira expressed increased optimism for RCL’s prospects, citing the firm’s expansion into American markets—particularly Mexico—and upgrades in its reefer container (temperature-controlled) logistics. The firm is expected to capitalize on market volatility by redeploying vessels to more profitable routes, especially now that freight rates on corridors such as Shanghai to New York and Shanghai to Los Angeles have shown some recovery. Aira recommends accumulating RCL shares in anticipation of price cycles, setting near-term price targets at THB 31.50 and THB 36.50.

In a separate note, analysts at Krungsri Securities pointed to the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) jumping 4.61% compared to the previous day, and up 6.6% week-to-date, closing at 2,112 points. This is driven by expectations that Beijing might introduce new economic stimulus measures between late September and early October—seen as a positive signal for dry bulk shipping stocks such as TTA and Precious Shipping Public Company Limited (SET: PSL).
