Nintendo revised its operating profit guidance upwards by 16% on Tuesday, projecting earnings of JPY 370 billion ($2.45 billion) for the fiscal year ending March 2026. The Kyoto-based gaming giant also increased its anticipated sales for the Switch 2, now forecasting 19 million units sold—up from its previous estimate of 15 million units.
The Switch 2, Nintendo’s long-awaited successor to its best-selling hybrid home-portable console, debuted during U.S. President Donald Trump’s ongoing trade war, presenting a significant test for the firm’s global supply chain. Despite expectations of strong uptake for the new model, investors remain cautious as they assess the sustainability of its sales trajectory.
To support demand during the critical year-end holiday period, Nintendo has slated the release of high-profile titles, including “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” and “Kirby Air Riders,” aiming to reinforce sales momentum.
