GOOG80 Gains 2% after Pentagon Deploys Gemini as First Enterprise AI on War Department

The United States Department of Defense has taken a significant step in artificial intelligence adoption by announcing the deployment of Google Cloud’s Gemini for Government as the first enterprise AI capability on its GenAI.mil platform, according to an official statement released Tuesday.

The share price of Depositary Receipt of Google in the Thai stock market issued by KTB, GOOG80, surged 2% to THB 5.10 per share. This follows a 1% gain from Alphabet over the night.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, speaking in a video shared on social media, described the launch as a major initiative to empower military staff, civilian workers, and contractors with generative AI tools hosted on the Pentagon’s own secure website. Only individuals with a department-issued common access card will be able to access GenAI.mil, ensuring that the platform remains restricted to authorized users.

Hegseth emphasized that the Pentagon is not remaining passive while rivals exploit rapid technological progress. “At the click of a button, AI models on GenAI can be utilized to conduct deep research, format documents, and even analyze video or imagery at unprecedented speed,” he noted in the video.

Highlighting the department’s commitment, Hegseth stated in a written announcement that defense officials are “pushing all of our chips in on artificial intelligence as a fighting force.”

According to the Pentagon, Gemini for Government integrates “intelligent agentic workflows,” utilizing autonomous AI processes that make decisions and execute actions with minimal human oversight. This, the department said, will allow defense teams to explore and test these advanced capabilities more extensively.
