Nopadej Karnasuta, President of Thailand, Malaysia, and Energy & Industrial Solutions Business of B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited (SET: BGRIM), revealed that the company has continued its expansion of the energy business abroad. Most recently, B.Grimm LNG Company Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary, has established a new subsidiary in Malaysia under the name B.Grimm LNG Sdn. Bhd., with a registered capital of 1 Malaysian ringgit to support the expansion of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) business in the region.
The main objective of establishing the said company is to conduct procurement and wholesale business for LNG and natural gas, to meet the needs of combined cycle gas turbine power plants (Combined Cycle) with a total capacity of up to 1,500 megawatts in Malaysia. The development will be divided into two phases, each phase 750 megawatts, with commercial operation dates (COD) expected to begin from 2028 onwards. This will also support an additional 300-500 megawatts from other power plants and address demand from the domestic industrial sector.
The company aims to procure about 500,000-1,000,000 tons of LNG per year, with plans to start imports from 2028 onwards by diversifying sources of supply from various countries such as Australia, Malaysia, and other sources to manage costs competitively.
Mr. Nopadej stated that the procurement and wholesale LNG business is a “key strategy” for BGRIM’s investment expansion in Malaysia, not only supporting the Group’s IPP power plants but also creating opportunities for industrial customers whose energy demands are continually increasing, especially in industrial factories and the rapidly growing data center business in the region.
Furthermore, this business expansion aligns with BGRIM’s “GreenLeap” strategy, which focuses on supplying clean, stable, and accessible energy at reasonable costs, along with reducing environmental impact. The company prioritizes the development of sustainable fuels (Sustainable Fuels) and the use of advanced technology in collaboration with international partners.
BGRIM still maintains its long-term goal of becoming a global leader in energy, aiming to achieve Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 and expanding its electricity generation capacity to 10,000 megawatts by 2030 according to its strategic plan.
