SET Index Edges Up Amid Middle East Peace Deal, Broker Cautions Consolidation Risks

On Monday, Thailand’s SET Index closed the morning trading session at 1,596.58 points, showing an increase of 4.17 points or 0.26%, with a trading value of THB 60.21 billion.

Pi Securities wrote that the Thai stock market opened in positive territory this morning, although its performance remained weaker than that of other Asian markets, which saw a strong rebound. The global investment environment has been buoyed by news that the United States and Iran have reached a peace agreement to end the conflict and are preparing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. As a result, oil prices have declined, while global equity markets have rebounded.

However, as the Thai bourse has experienced significant gains, bringing the index up to the 1,600-point level, this has resulted in stretched valuations, which have limited further upside. Meanwhile, Thailand’s economic growth outlook for 2026 remains modest.

There was notable selling pressure in the energy and petrochemical sectors this morning, reflecting the decline in oil prices. Additionally, shares that had previously outperformed, such as those in the telecommunications sector, saw some profit-taking, with investors rotating into laggard sectors.

In the afternoon session, the market is expected to face some consolidation risks. Investors will be closely watching upcoming economic data releases, as well as the U.S. Federal Reserve’s meeting scheduled later this week. The support and resistance levels are projected at 1,590 and 1,610, respectively.
