CPN Unveils THB6 Billion Mega Bangna Expansion Plan to Develop Mixed-Use Hub in Eastern Bangkok

Phoom Chirathivat, Assistant Managing Director and Head of Hotel Business at Central Pattana Public Company Limited (SET: CPN), announced that the company is proceeding with the largest expansion of Mega Bangna in 14 years, with an investment budget of THB 6 billion. The project aims to create an “A Nature-led, Experience-led Destination” for every family member.

This extension will increase the project’s gross building area (GBA) by another 170,000 square meters, comprising new retail space and an additional 1,750 parking spaces. Completion is expected in 3Q28, bringing the total project area of Mega Bangna to 800,000 square meters. This represents more than half of the “long-term mixed-use development master plan”—a joint venture between CPN and Ikano Centres—covering over 325 rais.

The expansion underscores the company’s confidence in the long-term growth potential of Thailand and Bangkok’s eastern zone—especially the Bang Na district, which is among the fastest-growing and most urbanizing districts in the capital.

The project also marks a major milestone, building on the successes achieved over the past 14 years. Since opening, Mega Bangna has welcomed over 670 million visitors, with a record high of up to 60 million visits in 2025, while maintaining a full 100% occupancy rate consistently.

Phoom also commented that in the future, Mega Bangna will be developed under a “long-term mixed-use master plan” spanning over 325 rais, and upon completion, the total GBA will exceed 1.3 million square meters, with an estimated total project value of THB 70 billion.

Upcoming components include office buildings, hotels, residences, and other elements to strengthen the project, all under the “Mega City” vision aiming to become the key destination in eastern Bangkok and one of Thailand’s most crucial city development projects.

Meanwhile, Bang Na remains one of Bangkok’s fastest-growing districts, marked by rising purchasing power, an expanding modern affluent family segment, and evolving lifestyle demands. Today’s consumers seek more than just shopping—they look for rich experiences, leisure, and a sense of community. This expansion has been designed to meet these changing needs and to future-proof Mega Bangna’s ongoing growth.

Once the extension is completed, Mega Bangna will feature more than 1,200 leading brands—making it home to the largest collection of brands in eastern Bangkok, up from 900 at present. This includes over 250 new brands debuting in eastern Bangkok, including more than 20 accessible luxury brands, complemented by upgrades to the retail, dining, and lifestyle experience, and a seamless connection between the expanded and original shopping areas. This will establish an experience-led destination evolving alongside every generation for years to come.
