Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited (SET: IVL) reported an outstanding recovery in its second-quarter 2026 results, buoyed by favorable market spreads and aggressive “self-help” management initiatives.
The global chemicals leader posted a net profit of THB 5,961 million, a dramatic turnaround from the THB 521 million loss recorded in the prior-year period. Consolidated revenue climbed 16% year-over-year to THB 136,014 million, reflecting a significant improvement in pricing power despite a slight dip in overall production volume.
Key Financial Highlights
- Core Net Profit: THB 9,165 million, up 1,344% YoY (excluding impairments).
- Consolidated EBITDA: THB 21,687 million, a 129% increase YoY.
- Net Debt-to-Equity: Improved to 1.56x, down from 1.73x in 1Q26.
- Liquidity: Robust position at THB 103 billion.
The Combined PET (CPET) segment spearheaded the performance, with EBITDA surging 163% YoY to THB 14,433 million. This was primarily driven by a spike in China integrated PET benchmark spreads, which reached $279 per ton, and the company’s North American shale gas linkage, which provided a significant cost advantage.
The Indovinya segment also delivered a strong quarter, with EBITDA nearly doubling to THB 4,688 million, as high-value additives (HVA) contributed 80% of the unit’s earnings. Meanwhile, the Fibers segment saw a 39% YoY EBITDA increase to THB 1,873 million, as stable hygiene demand helped offset continued weakness in automotive and lifestyle markets.
The quarter’s success was anchored in structural advantages, specifically IVL’s “local for local” manufacturing model which allowed the company to bypass geopolitical supply disruptions. Core operational growth was substantial, though the reported bottom line included THB 1,227 million in restructuring costs and THB 796 million in asset impairments.
IVL’s balance sheet strengthened materially, with absolute net debt falling to THB 226 billion. By reaching a Net Debt-to-Equity ratio of 1.56x, the company achieved its full-year leverage target ahead of schedule. Management remains confident in meeting its 2026 estimates, focusing the remainder of the year on converting these earnings into free cash flow and further reducing absolute debt levels.
