Thailand’s SET Index closed at 1,626.44 points, increased 17.38 points or 1.08%, with a trading value of THB 75.66 billion. The analyst stated that the Thai stock market outperformed expectations, bolstered by better-than-expected listed companies’ earnings, rising earnings per share, and robust 2Q26 GDP. These catalysts supported Thai equities, with noticeable buying interest in the electronics sector, especially DELTA.
Meanwhile, there were no new supporting factors from overseas, with the Middle East situation remaining stable.
For tomorrow, the analyst expects the Thai market to extend gains, though at a weaker pace.
Thailand recorded a 1.9% year-on-year GDP growth in the second quarter of 2026. This figure slightly exceeds the market consensus, which anticipated a 1.8% expansion.
A key highlight driving this growth is the significant acceleration in private sector investment, which soared by 13.4% YoY, up from the previous quarter’s 10.1% gain. The official GDP forecast for 2026 has been elevated to a range of 2.0 – 2.5%, from the prior estimate of 1.5 – 2.0%.
Japan’s latest GDP figures indicated the economy expanded by 1.1% on an annualized basis for the April to June quarter. This reading was below economists’ projections of 2% growth and lagged the previous quarter’s upwardly revised 1.9% increase. The slower momentum was attributed in part to subdued household consumption and restrained capital investment, despite robust external demand.
