Suvarnabhumi Airport Coordinates With Thai Airways to Address Ground Operating Issues From Flooding

Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) has stated that the company received complaints from Thai Airways passengers regarding delays to departing flights and extended waiting times for baggage on arriving flights. The issue has been ongoing since 26 September 2026 and continues today, 27 September 2026.

Flooding in several areas has affected the ability of Thai Airways’ ground handling personnel to travel to work, resulting in insufficient staffing to support ground handling operations. In addition, some of Thai Airways’ baggage carts have experienced operational issues, further affecting ground handling processes for both departing flights and baggage handling for arriving flights. These factors have resulted in delays to some departing flights and longer-than-usual waiting times for baggage among arriving passengers, with baggage remaining unclaimed from several flights.

Suvarnabhumi Airport is urgently coordinating with Thai Airways to increase ground handling staff as quickly as possible, expedite repairs to malfunctioning baggage carts and provide replacement equipment to improve the handling and transfer of delayed baggage. In coordination with Thai Airways, baggage status information is being displayed on flight information screens, with regular announcements provided in baggage claim areas to keep passengers informed of the situation and baggage collection procedures. Suvarnabhumi Airport has also deployed staff to assist passengers and provide information in passenger service and baggage claim areas.

For passengers who have not yet received their baggage, Thai Airways has arranged for passengers to complete a delayed baggage report form to facilitate baggage tracking and delivery. Passengers may also contact the Thai Airways Lost and Found offices at Suvarnabhumi Airport at:

International flights: 02-134-5453 to 55
Domestic flights: 02-134-5473 to 74
THAI Contact Center: 02-356-1111

Suvarnabhumi Airport stated that it will continue to closely monitor the situation and work closely with Thai Airways to address the ground handling staff shortage and ensure that services return to normal as soon as possible.
