SpaceX Secures $40 Billion For AI Chips

SpaceX has completed a $40 billion debt deal to finance artificial intelligence chip purchases, according to Elon Musk. Alongside the announcement, Musk warned that tightening credit threatens widespread business failures and consolidation across a field of more than 200 specialised cloud providers.

Musk attributed SpaceX’s access to financing to its investment-grade rating and multiple revenue sources, including its rocket operations and Starlink satellite business.

It was reported earlier this month that SpaceX is looking to finance $40 billion for Nvidia chips. Most of the proceeds will go toward graphics processing units, Musk said, with deliveries anticipated during the first two quarters of 2027.

Last week, SpaceX delivered a blowout third-quarter 2026 earnings performance, powered by surging artificial intelligence infrastructure demand and expanding satellite connectivity. The company reported net income of 4.40 billion (0.35 adjusted EPS), swinging from a net loss of $1.05 billion in the prior-year period. Net revenue surged 161% year-over-year to $14.58 billion, handily topping market consensus expectations of $12.70 billion to $12.87 billion, while adjusted EPS of $0.35 easily beat the $0.15 analyst forecast.
