Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said that former U.S. President Donald Trump and former secretary of state Mike Pompeo must face trial for the criminal act of assassinating General Soleimani or Muslims will take revenge.

Said on the second anniversary of the assassination of their martyr General Qassem Soleimani the Iranian President added that Trump must be tried and judged under the Islamic law of retribution.

January 3rd marks the second anniversary of the assassination of Iranian high-ranking commander and the leader of the Quds force, Qassim Soleimani. According to the report, Soleimani was killed by U.S. drones at Baghdad International Airport while the Pentagon stated that the strike was aimed at deterring future Iranian attack plans.

Iran has fired six missiles at an air base in Iraq housing some American troops, days after the attack at the airport and warned the U.S. not to retaliate. The tension between the two countries has escalated ever since, though the negotiation was arranged several times.
