Swedish Embassy Refutes Reports of Gripen Sales Suspension to Thai Air Force

Following a report by Malaysia-based Defence Security Asia disclosing that Sweden has halted further sales of its Gripen fighter jets to Thailand due to concerns over their use in airstrikes on Cambodian territory, the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok addressed the matter on its official Facebook page Friday.

The embassy stated that, despite numerous rumors currently circulating regarding the Royal Thai Air Force’s Gripen procurement, no decision has been made to suspend further sales of the jets to Thailand.

Prior to the statement, the Royal Thai Air Force had dismissed reports from Cambodian media claiming that Sweden has halted additional sales of Gripen fighter jets to Thailand, labeling the information as misleading and distorted. The procurement process for the aircraft is still ongoing, and the project has not been suspended.
