On September 7, 2025, the Royal Gazette published a royal decree announcing the appointment of a new Prime Minister. According to the announcement, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn has issued an order declaring that Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s term as Prime Minister has come to an end, as stipulated under Section 170, Paragraph 1 (4) and Section 160 (4) (5) of the Thai Constitution.
Following this, the Speaker of the House of Representatives reported to His Majesty that on September 5, 2025, the House had voted in favor of appointing Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul as the new Prime Minister, with a majority of more than half of the members currently serving in the House.
Under the authority vested in the King by Section 158 of the Constitution, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul has been officially appointed as Prime Minister, effective immediately.
