Thai officials said no Thai casualties had been reported following severe flooding and landslides in areas along Nepal’s Bhote Koshi River on August 26, 2026. The disaster affected Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan, leaving at least 95 people dead and many others unaccounted for.
Jaithai Upakarnitikaset, director-general of the Department of Information and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the Royal Thai Embassy in Kathmandu confirmed that the affected areas sustained heavy damage.
Infrastructure along the Bhote Koshi River was extensively damaged, and more than 600 Nepalese citizens and foreign nationals remain missing, according to information provided by the embassy. Currently, there are no reports of Thai nationals being injured or killed in the incident.
