WHA Partners with Six Collaborating Organizations to Elevate ‘WeCYCLE’ Waste Management Initiative

WHA Corporation Public Company Limited or WHA Group (SET: WHA) hosted a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony for the “WeCYCLE” project with six collaborating organizations at WHA Tower, marking a major milestone in environmental collaboration.

A key highlight of this fifth-year milestone was the announcement of two new partners: Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) and Total Environmental Solutions Company Limited (SK tes), joining existing core partners including the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited or GC (SET: PTTGC), SCG Packaging Public Company Limited (SET: SCGP), and Thanachok Oil Light Company Limited.

The expanded collaboration strengthens the WeCYCLE project by enhancing its capacity to manage resources under the Circular Economy concept in a more comprehensive manner — extending coverage across a diverse range of materials and waste streams, from used plastics and paper to cooking oil, organic waste and food scraps, and electronic equipment — ensuring these resources can be efficiently recovered and utilized to maximum value.

Over four years of operation, the WeCYCLE project has delivered tangible results, managing a cumulative total of more than 235 tonnes of waste and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 527 tCO₂e. To date, more than 140 operators from industrial estates, warehouse facilities, and local communities have joined the initiative.

Ms. Jareeporn Jarukornsakul, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Group Chief Executive Officer, WHA Corporation Public Company Limited (WHA Group), stated: “Entering the fifth year of WeCYCLE and welcoming our new partners — VISTEC and SK tes — represents one of the critical gears and mechanisms that reflect our Group’s commitment under its commitment ‘WHA: SHAPE THE FUTURE FOR THAILAND’, as a co-creator of a sustainable future for Thailand. Waste and used materials will no longer be regarded as discards, but as valuable resources when managed the right way.

This strengthened collaboration brings together the capabilities of industry leaders, resource management specialists, and leading research institutions to build a powerful and complete ecosystem — supporting the transition toward a green economy, addressing Net Zero greenhouse gas emission targets, and enabling genuine economic growth alongside environmental stewardship for Thailand.”

Partner organization executives also shared their respective organizations’ roles in supporting the circular economy and sustainable resource management under this collaboration:

Mr. Sumet Tangprasert, Governor of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), added: “IEAT is delighted to be part of the WeCYCLE MOU signing ceremony today. Entering its fifth year, this project stands as a model initiative reflecting strong collaboration among the public sector, private sector, and communities in systematically and sustainably advancing the concept of Eco-Industrial Estates.

IEAT commends all network partners for their continuous commitment, covering the full spectrum from sorting, collection, recycling, and resource recovery, to knowledge-building that raises awareness among communities and establishments. This not only reduces environmental impact, minimizes waste, and cuts greenhouse gas emissions, but also plays a pivotal role in advancing the Circular Economy concept — aligned with sustainable development goals and the journey toward Net Zero.

IEAT stands ready to support and collaborate with all sectors in fostering a culture of resource efficiency, to improve quality of life and the environment, and to drive Thai society toward balanced growth as a low-carbon society. We extend our deepest gratitude to all partners for making this project a tangible success, and we sincerely hope this valued collaboration will continue to grow sustainably.”

Mr. Saroj Putthammawong, Chief Operating Officer – Value Added Products, PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC), highlighted the importance of building a circular economy through multi-sector collaboration: “Over more than four years as part of the WeCYCLE project, GC has collected more than 80 tonnes of used plastics — equivalent to over 4.8 million plastic bottles — through GC YOUเทิร์น, our end-to-end used plastics management platform, from more than 113 member companies across WHA industrial estates.

This MOU signing marks a significant step forward: moving beyond used plastics collection toward building a circular economy ecosystem that connects industry, communities, and end users in an integrated manner — through expanded plastics collection networks, the development of Community Waste Hub prototypes, channeling used plastics into high-quality recycling processes, and advancing upcycled products and post-consumer recycled (PCR) pellets for industrial use — to maximize resource value, reduce environmental impact, and co-create a sustainable future for Thai society.”

Mr. Thatnate Suwannawarasit, Director of Packaging Materials Recycling, SCG Packaging Public Company Limited (SCGP), stated that SCGP places strong emphasis on driving the Circular Economy in a tangible manner across the entire value chain — from design and production through consumption to the recovery of used materials.

The WeCYCLE “Bring Your Old Paper” activity represents one such collaboration between SCGP and industry, channeling used paper from WHA through a systematic process of collection, sorting, and delivery into SCGP’s recycling operations for value recovery, using efficient manufacturing technology rooted in circular economy principles — transforming it into various upcycled products from recycled paper, which are then donated to schools in communities surrounding WHA industrial estates.

SCGP has also extended this concept to other sectors, developing model communities for resource and zero-waste management, and promoting knowledge on proper material recovery to reduce waste volumes, minimize the use of virgin resources, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Collaboration across all sectors is the cornerstone of making the circular economy a reality and the driving force toward a shared sustainable future.

Ms. Panjarat Inprakong, Managing Director, Thanachok Oil Light Company Limited, stated:”Thanachok Group places great importance on transforming used cooking oil into new-value energy in the form of bioenergy and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), in line with the Circular Economy concept. We reaffirm our commitment to efficient resource management to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support Thailand’s Net Zero targets.”

Dr. Pailin Chuchottaworn, Chairperson of Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC), stated:”VISTEC is pleased to be part of the WeCYCLE project, bringing scientific knowledge and innovation to support sustainable organic waste and food scrap management through GREENGEN Biodigester technology, which transforms waste into valuable resources. This collaboration reflects the role of research in creating Circular Innovation and making a low-carbon society a tangible reality at the community and industrial levels.”

Mr. Luc Bernardus Scholte van Mast, Managing Director, Total Environmental Solutions Company Limited (SK tes), stated: “SK tes is honored to join the WeCYCLE project as a specialist in sustainable electronic waste (E-Waste) management. In the midst of the digital transformation era, proper e-waste management is an urgent necessity for both the environment and the business sector.

SK tes’s role within this collaboration is to leverage innovation and advanced technology to drive safe and efficient Resource Recovery processes — transforming e-waste back into valuable materials within the circular system — while raising public awareness that used materials are not waste, but the starting point of new resources. The robust WeCYCLE ecosystem will help advance SK tes’s sustainability goals in contributing to Thailand’s transition toward a low-carbon society and balanced economic growth in a concrete and meaningful way.”

This collaboration under the WeCYCLE MOU represents a defining step for Thailand’s industrial sector in its transition toward sustainability — through action that is real, measurable, and replicable as a model for integration among the public sector, private sector, and academic institutions — to establish a durable balance between economic growth and environmental stewardship. It reflects the unwavering commitment of WHA Group under its commitment ‘WHA: SHAPE THE FUTURE FOR THAILAND’ — as a driving force and co-creator of a sustainable future for Thailand’s economy, society, and environment.
