AIS and Bangkok Land have announced a strategic partnership to deploy 5G networks, home broadband services, and enterprise solutions across more than 4,000 rai of Muang Thong Thani. The collaboration aims to transform the area into a model smart city for Thailand under the concept “Muang Thong NEXT: The Smart & Connected City.” The partnership reflects a shared vision to elevate Muang Thong Thani from one of Thailand’s leading event and exhibition destinations into a Hub Connectivity City, seamlessly connecting every part of the urban ecosystem—from living, housing, working, education and entertainment to business, events, transportation, public safety and future economic opportunities. This collaboration represents a major milestone in using intelligent digital infrastructure as a key mechanism to enhance the city’s capabilities across every dimension.

AIS will contribute its comprehensive network capabilities, technologies and digital platforms to strengthen Muang Thong Thani’s readiness through the following initiatives:
- Comprehensive 5G network deployment across Muang Thong Thani, with an upgrade to 5G-ADVANCED through carrier aggregation technology. This will deliver higher speeds, stronger performance and lower latency while supporting high-density usage throughout the area, particularly at large exhibition venues and concert halls accommodating tens of thousands of simultaneous users. The network will support applications such as live streaming, immersive experiences, extended reality, holograms and high-quality real-time broadcasting.
- Smart Living for every household through AIS 3BB Fibre3 home broadband and the latest WiFi 7 wireless standard. Homes, condominiums and communities will benefit from fast, stable connectivity that is ready to support future intelligent services, ranging from smart homes and working from home to telemedicine and remote health monitoring.
- Business transformation for the AI era through Hyper Connectivity, Sovereign Cloud, Data Center and AI Solutions. These services will enable office buildings and businesses to accelerate their digital transformation while supporting connectivity with global cloud platforms, data analytics and managed services delivered by specialist teams.
- Enhanced concert and event experiences at IMPACT through WiFi networks and connectivity systems designed to support large numbers of attendees. This will ensure that communications, transactions and digital engagement remain uninterrupted for exhibitors, organizers and visitors. The initiative will also build upon services such as 5G VIP Ultra and Boost Mode on the 5G Standalone network, delivering faster and more reliable digital experiences for event participants.
The digital infrastructure will serve as the foundation for the comprehensive management of a future smart city. It will encompass technologies supporting digital lifestyles, including AI-powered CCTV, smart access systems, digital signage, smart meters, IoT, digital payment systems, data analytics, digital libraries, virtual classrooms and cybersecurity. Data from convention facilities, business districts, residential areas, retail locations, educational institutions, security agencies and public spaces will be integrated into a Smart City Data Platform and Digital Twin. These systems will allow city administrators to view the overall condition of the city in real time and make more accurate decisions regarding traffic, energy consumption, space utilization and public safety. They will also enable new digital experiences for residents, businesses and communities. The initiative will help establish Muang Thong Thani as a model Smart & Connected City that is intelligently managed, secure and prepared for future growth, while improving quality of life and creating new experiences for everyone.

Mr. Paul Kanjanapas, Chief Executive Officer of Bangkok Land Public Company Limited, said: “For Muang Thong Thani, a Smart & Connected City is not simply about introducing technology to manage the city. It is about enabling the entire city to operate more intelligently and efficiently while remaining seamlessly connected, ultimately enhancing the experience and quality of life of everyone in the area. Digital technology will be a key mechanism in bringing the Live–Work–Play–Learn concept to life by continuously connecting residential living, work, entertainment and education. This will allow people to access information, services, activities and facilities more conveniently and in ways that are better aligned with their needs. In education, technology will strengthen the learning ecosystem. Businesses will be able to use digital capabilities to enhance their services, improve efficiency and create new opportunities. In terms of city management, technologies such as Smart AI CCTV, Smart Traffic Management Systems and integrated data systems will help make Muang Thong Thani safer and more efficient while enabling it to accommodate large numbers of people effectively. Our partnership with AIS is therefore an important step toward transforming Muang Thong Thani into a Hub Connectivity City that brings living, working, entertainment, learning and business opportunities together in one fully connected urban environment.”

Mr. Pratthana Leelapanang, Chief Executive Officer of AIS, said: “AIS sees this collaboration as an extension of our role as a National Intelligent Infrastructure provider. We are evolving from being a network operator to becoming an integral part of the foundation that enables cities, businesses and people to grow together on digital infrastructure that is ready, reliable and secure. At the heart of Muang Thong NEXT is the idea that technology should operate naturally behind every experience within the city. This ranges from supporting tens of thousands of spectators at concerts and events and enabling businesses to use cloud and AI technologies to providing Smart Living, telemedicine, smart parking, virtual classrooms and cybersecurity. These capabilities will make everyday life more convenient while enabling safer and more efficient management of the area. They will also allow businesses to gain a better understanding of their customers, design new services and create greater economic opportunities. For AIS, the success of a smart city should not be measured by the number of technologies deployed. It should be measured by the tangible benefits people experience—from transportation, living and working to gaining access to new services and experiences throughout the city. AIS’s role is therefore not merely to connect systems, but to bring together networks, data and the capabilities of every sector. Our goal is to establish Muang Thong Thani as a model Smart & Connected City that sustainably creates value for people, businesses and the urban economy.”

This development represents more than a technological upgrade. It is a collaborative effort to design a new urban ecosystem that systematically connects people, businesses, education, lifestyles and digital infrastructure. The initiative will transform the potential of more than 4,000 rai of Muang Thong Thani into tangible new experiences and opportunities for residents and businesses. It will also advance Muang Thong Thani from a leading national event destination into a Hub Connectivity City and a smart economic district of the future—creating meaningful value for the city, local communities, Nonthaburi Province and Thailand.
