President Donald Trump is exhibiting signs of impatience with Vladimir Putin, directing some of his most intense criticism at the Russian leader as Russia continues its relentless campaign of striking Kyiv and other cities in Ukraine with drones and missiles for the third night in a row.
“I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY! He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into Cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever. I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!,” said Trump on his Truth Social platform.
Meanwhile, Trump also voiced frustration with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, suggesting that his rhetoric does not benefit Ukraine.
“Likewise, President Zelenskyy is doing his Country no favors by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop. This is a War that would never have started if I were President,” the U.S. president added.
The quest for a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine seems as distant as ever. During a phone call this week, Trump and Putin discussed initiating immediate ceasefire talks between the two nations, following a meeting between Russian and Ukrainian representatives in Turkey—their first face-to-face dialogue since 2022. However, by Thursday, the Kremlin clarified that no direct negotiations were planned.
In the meantime, the European Union has implemented additional sanctions against Russia in response to Putin’s unwillingness to agree to a ceasefire. Trump, on the other hand, while threatening to increase sanctions and tariffs on Russia, has yet to take any substantial action.
“This is Zelenskyy’s, Putin’s, and Biden’s War, not “Trump’s,” I am only helping to put out the big and ugly fires, that have been started through Gross Incompetence and Hatred,” Trump ended his post.
