According to customs data released Monday, Vietnam’s footwear exports to the United States fell sharply in September, plunging 27% to USD 611 million.
The decline marked the steepest drop among all Vietnamese export sectors and followed the recent implementation of tariffs by the U.S. government.
Other key exports also showed substantial decreases, with textile shipments dropping 20% and exports of phones and components falling by 24.38%.
Meanwhile, the country’s overall exports to the U.S. slipped by just 1.5% in September, totaling USD 13.7 billion. Customs officials noted that stable shipments of coffee and machinery helped cushion the broader impact, helping to partially offset the losses.
