Fushan Technology, a subsidiary of Foxconn, is seeking regulatory approval to expand its manufacturing footprint in Vietnam, in a bid to produce Xbox gaming consoles and a range of other electronic components, according to official documentation submitted to the environmental authorities.
As outlined in the filing, Fushan Technology also aims to boost its annual phone production capacity by 30 million units, bringing its total to 140 million. Additionally, the company plans to introduce charging devices tailored for smart rings, wearable gadgets designed to offer both smartwatch and fitness tracking capabilities.
The company has already initiated the process of upgrading its facility, with comprehensive operations expected to launch in April of next year, according to the document.
Originally, the Fushan Technology plant served as a production site for Nokia and Microsoft mobile phones. According to the document, the facility has the capacity to manufacture as many as 100,000 drones each year.
Foxconn, well-known as a supplier for global technology leaders such as Apple and Microsoft, has invested over $3.2 billion in Vietnam as of 2024. The company first established a presence in the country in the 2000s, with most of its production concentrated in the northern Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces.
