On Wednesday at 10:42 AM (Bangkok time), the share price of Praram 9 Hospital Public Company Limited (SET: PR9) surged by 1.25% or THB 0.20 to THB 16.20, with a trading value of THB 13.83 million.
Bumrungrad Hospital Public Company Limited (SET: BH) gained 4.72% or THB 7.50 to THB 166.50, with a trading value of THB 721.52 million.
Ms. Kamaporn Tumpipit, Chief Financial Officer and Executive at PR9, revealed to ‘Kaohoon’ that regarding the progress in the selection of Thai private hospitals to receive and treat referred patients from Kuwait in Thailand, officials from the Kuwait Embassy have already visited Praram 9 Hospital.
Praram 9 Hospital has scheduled a meeting with the Kuwait Embassy to negotiate and discuss the process of being selected as one of the three Thai private hospitals meeting standards to provide medical care and treatment to Kuwaiti patients after the Ramadan period.
Should the hospital be selected, it would represent a significant positive development, with a formal announcement to be made in due course. Nevertheless, even if Praram 9 Hospital is not among those chosen, the hospital continues to maintain a robust base of Kuwaiti self-pay patients.
Regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, at present, patients from the region are now able to gradually return to Thailand for medical treatment after the reopening of the airspace in the second week of March 2026. This follows previous temporary airport closures, which led to flight cancellations.
Patients previously confirmed for referral or treatment at Praram 9 Hospital have continued with their treatment plans with no cancellations. Currently, Middle Eastern patients account for one-third of RP9’s international patient base, which represents 25% of the hospital’s total patients.
For Bumrungrad Hospital, the investor relations spokesperson noted that, concerning recent reports that the Kuwait Embassy had resumed the guaranteed referral of patients to hospitals, the company has not yet received an official update.
However, BH is confident it will be selected as one of the three Thai private hospitals designated to receive Kuwaiti patients for treatment in Thailand, which will be an upside for growth, following a relatively low number of Kuwaiti patients in 2025.
As for the Middle East conflict, BH continues to closely monitor the situation. As of the end of 2025, Middle Eastern patients accounted for 25% of BH’s international patient base, which itself made up 65.6% of the hospital’s total patients.
BH continues to provide world-class healthcare services and has a long-standing commitment to caring for international patients with a multidisciplinary team of specialists, serving patients from over 190 countries worldwide.
