Negotiators from Washington and Tehran are prepared to convene in Switzerland this Sunday for specialized discussions aimed at addressing ongoing diplomatic agreements. These meetings, held in Burgenstock, serve as a continuation of the framework established by the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
The diplomatic engagement will be supported by representatives from Pakistan and Qatar, who are acting as neutral intermediaries to facilitate the dialogue. Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed its commitment to assisting both parties in realizing the goals outlined in the previously signed memorandum.
In comments to the press, US Vice President JD Vance indicated that the commencement of these high-level sessions is contingent upon the arrival of key governmental figures from Iran, Pakistan, and Qatar, noting that the schedule could begin as early as Sunday. Meanwhile, officials from Tehran expressed that their team’s primary objective in Switzerland is to ensure that international partners fulfill their agreed-upon obligations.
The upcoming sessions represent a critical step in the technical implementation of the Islamabad-brokered deal as mediators seek to bridge the gap between the two nations.
