DFDL Cambodia: Additional Measures to Mitigate the Economic Impact of Covid-19 and Support the Recovery of the Tourism Sector

The Royal Cambodia Government issued a press release no. 01 dated 30 Jan 2023 on the Additional Measures to Mitigate the Economic Impact of Covid-19 and Support the Recovery of the Tourism Sector (“Press Release 01”).

Based on Press Release 01, the Royal Government of Cambodia will continue its relief measures to mitigate the economic impact of Covid-19 and support the recovery of the country’s tourism sector, these relief measures include:

  • Another three (3) months of monthly tax exemptions — except for Value Added Tax (VAT) — for hotels, guesthouses, and travel agencies that are registered with the General Department of Taxation (GDT) and that conduct business in Siem Reap. The extension will be from January to March 2023. Please note that these businesses remain obliged to file monthly tax returns and use the e-filing system to manage their VAT (E-VAT) each month during this period

  • Continue to provide intervention by freezing the tax debt of taxpayers in the tourism industry at the end of 2019 and not applying penalties in 2023.

  • Continue to support the tourism industry by preparing a development program for impacted staff and support fund if needed.

If you are in the tourism industry and would like further information regarding these developments please contact your usual DFDL advisor or our contacts below.
