Japan May Lift Indoor Mask-Wearing Recommendations in March

NHK has announced that Japan’s government plans to let its people make their own choice about wearing masks indoors, which is expected to be as early as next month, but for the present, the government recommends wearing masks indoors.

The government is expected to categorize Covid-19 as having the same level of seasonal influenza on May 8.

The health ministry would help people make decisions by announcing what situations people have to wear a mask in, such as the elderly and at-risk people who go to crowded areas.

The government planned the schedule summary to ease the mask restrictions at the coming meeting of the coronavirus task force.
