The Royal Gazette website has published an announcement from the Office of the Prime Minister dated June 5, 2025, regarding the appointment of the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Thailand (BOT). The announcement was endorsed by Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
According to the announcement, His Majesty the King has graciously appointed Mr. Somchai Sujjapongse as the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Thailand.
Somchai Sujjapongse was born on July 27, 1961, and is currently 64 years old. He is a prominent economist with significant contributions to Thailand’s fiscal system, holding extensive experience at the Ministry of Finance. His expertise is widely recognized both domestically and internationally.
