PM Anutin and President Xi Highlight Stronger Thai–Chinese Ties at APEC Summit 2025

On October 31, 2025, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Thailand, posted a photo on his personal Facebook page showing a bilateral meeting with President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China during the APEC 2025 summit in Seoul, South Korea.

In his post, Mr. Anutin wrote in Chinese, “Thai–Chinese friendship is profound and stable,” and included hashtags referencing the Chinese president and Premier Li Qiang, reflecting the close ties and mutual importance both nations place on their relationship.

Previously, Mr. Anutin had stated that during talks with the Chinese leader, he would propose that China expedite the purchase of 500,000 tons of Thai rice to generate income and reinforce stability for Thailand’s agricultural sector, as well as expand the agricultural trade market between the two countries in the long term.

Meanwhile, government spokesperson, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, shared a video clip of Prime Minister Anutin conversing with President Xi through an interpreter. In the video, Mr. Anutin invited China to consider purchasing more rice from Thailand, to which President Xi responded in a friendly and cordial manner. This meeting between Prime Minister Anutin and President Xi marks another significant milestone in Thai – Chinese relations, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2025. Both sides are committed to elevating cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, investment, and agriculture.
