Four Tourism-Related Stocks Rise after Thailand Welcomes 12 Million Foreign Arrivals YTD

With more than 12,400,000 international arrivals so far this year, four tourism-related shares increased on Wednesday on optimism of continuous influx of foreign visitors to Thailand.

The share price of Airports of Thailand Pcl. (SET: AOT) rose THB0.25/share, or 0.35%, to THB71.75/share, with a trading value of THB67.56 million.

The share price of The Erawan Group Pcl. (SET: ERW) rose THB0.02/share, or 0.44%, to THB4.52/share, with a trading value of THB1.12 million.

The share price of Minor International Pcl. (SET: MINT) rose THB0.75/share, or 2.27%, to THB33.75/share, with a trading value of THB146.07 million.

The share price of CP Axtra Pcl. (SET: CPAXT) rose THB0.25/share, or 0.72%, to THB34.75/share, with a trading value of THB56.71 million.

The Economics Tourism and Sports Division on Tuesday reported Thailand had over 12,400,000 international arrivals so far this year, with over 520,000 arriving during the third week of June alone, or an average of nearly 75,000 per day.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand received 523,794 international tourists between June 19 and June 25, with visitors coming predominantly from China, Malaysia, India, South Korea, and Vietnam.

The influx of international visitors has been consistent with projections over the past seven days. With a surge of 15.34%, Chinese travelers are once again outnumbering their Malaysian counterparts as the most popular visitors to Thailand, while the number of visitors from the Middle East rose by 78.14%.

Krungsri anticipates a total of 12.7–12.8 million international arrivals in the first half of 2023, putting it on track to meet its annual tourist goal of 28–30 million.

AOT, AAV, BA, MINT, CENTEL, ERW, and SPA are among the expected gainers.
