Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (SET: THAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (SET: PTTEP) to collaborate and share critical information on gas turbine engine maintenance. The agreement was signed by Mr. Cherdphan Chotikhun, THAI Chief, Technical, and Mr. Nirandorn Rojanasomsith, PTTEP Executive Vice President of Engineering, Development, and Maintenance Group. Along with Mr. Chansilp Treenuchakorn, THAI Board of Director and the executives from both organizations, attended the signing ceremony at Synergy Hall, 6th Floor, Energy Complex C.
The collaboration aims to enhance the maintenance capabilities of both organizations through the exchange of knowledge, technology, and technical support across multiple areas. The partnership will jointly explore business models for gas turbine engine maintenance to elevate standards to international levels. Plans also include the development of training programs on gas turbine engines and turbofan engines, which have similar operational characteristics, to cultivate skilled maintenance personnel.
Additionally, both parties will establish a joint working group to study and design business plans for collaboration among THAI, PTTEP, and aviation Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) companies. The working group will also facilitate the exchange of technical and operational information to support effective joint operations.
This MOU represents a significant step for THAI and PTTEP in enhancing gas turbine engine maintenance capabilities and expanding business opportunities. It is expected to drive economic growth and advance the country’s gas turbine engine maintenance industry by reducing turnaround times, lowering maintenance and transportation costs, and enabling support for engines used in other power-generating vehicles.
