JAS has secured the license for the live broadcast rights of the ‘2026 FIFA World Cup,’ according to a high-level source from Jasmine International Public Company Limited (SET: JAS) who confirmed the development with veteran journalist Sorayuth Suthassanachinda. The media giant is now scheduled to host an official press conference tomorrow at noon to reveal the full broadcasting and streaming details to the public.
Meanwhile, a reliable source from JAS’ subsidiary, which will be the primary broadcaster, confirms with “Kaohoon” that there will be an official conference tomorrow.
This development is expected to trigger intense trading volatility for JAS and its media subsidiary, Mono Next Public Company Limited (SET: MONO). The movement in Jasmine and Mono’s stocks have been a rollercoaster in recent days due to speculation trading on the broadcasting rights. Earlier, management had cautiously managed expectations, stating that negotiations over FIFA’s rigid $40 million (over 1.3 billion Baht) price tag were still incomplete.
Historically, Thai corporations acquiring mega-sports rights face strict financial scrutiny regarding commercial viability. JAS had aggressively pushed to match Vietnam’s estimated $15 million deal to minimize cash-burn risks. While securing the World Cup seamlessly complements JAS’s newly acquired English Premier League ecosystem—solidifying its Monomax and Mono29 platforms—analysts will be laser-focused on the final monetization model and sub-licensing agreements to see how the company intends to offset the hefty rights fee.
With the global tournament kicking off tomorrow, June 11, this eleventh-hour victory saves Thailand from a total broadcasting blackout. The market is expecting heavy speculative volume on JAS and MONO as the market opens tomorrow, ahead of the mid-day official press conference.
