On July 30, the Thai stock market opened at 1,595.24 points at 10:10 a.m., a decrease of 29.23 points or 1.80%, with a trading value of THB 20.90 billion. The market faced negative pressure from multiple directions, following renewed and intensified conflict in the Middle East, as well as significant sell-offs in DELTA and IVL which pushed the index below the 1,600-point threshold.
Yuanta Securities (Thailand) commented that the Thai bourse dropped sharply this morning, primarily due to sell-offs in DELTA and electronics stocks. Additional pressure was felt from anti-commodity groups such as IVL and PTTGC. He identified a support level for the Thai benchmark at 1,600 points and a resistance level at 1,625 points.
Meanwhile, Tisco Securities anticipated further declines in the Thai equity market today, as during the market closure on July 28-29, Asian technology stocks dropped sharply, weighing down electronics shares—especially DELTA, which recently held an analyst meeting. The securities firm outlook has turned negative, resulting in a recommendation downgrade to “Sell,” expecting market sentiment to remain bearish.
Nevertheless, the rapid surge in oil prices is supporting energy and petrochemical stocks, which could help cushion the downturn. The Thai market is expected to move sideways-down but remains resilient.
The ongoing Middle East conflict, which has now spread to Saudi Arabia and Iraq, may further complicate peace negotiations. In addition, the latest U.S. Federal Reserve meeting decided to hold interest rates steady, but with a split vote of 9 to 3, reflecting concerns over surging oil prices and prospects of rising inflation.
Market participants anticipated the Fed to hike rates one or two more times in the latter half of the year. Furthermore, the 30-year U.S. bond yield has climbed to 5.2%, marking a new high since before the subprime crisis, adding pressure on equities.
The brokerage firm advised investors to closely monitor the Bank of England’s meeting, the U.S. 2Q26 preliminary GDP figures, and the U.S. PCE data today. Key support levels are identified at 1,620 and 1,610 points, with resistance levels at 1,640 and 1,650 points.
On July 25, Thailand Securities Depository Co., Ltd. (TSD) has detected unauthorized access to users’ personal information through the TSD Investor Portal system. This incident has resulted in the leakage of some personal data. The incident raised concerns over the security of critical investors’ data, which further hampered confidence in the Thai equity market.
