The U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters on Wednesday at the White House that Iran has reached out for negotiation. However, he said that it could be too late to do so.
“Iran wants to negotiate,” said the president but he quickly added, “I said it’s very late. Why didn’t you negotiate with me before all this death and destruction? Why didn’t you negotiate?’ I said to people, ‘Why didn’t you negotiate with me two weeks ago? You could have done fine. You would have had a country.’”
“They suggested they come to the White House,” said Trump. “But it’s difficult.” Still, the U.S. president insists on unconditional surrender for Iran.
“I may do it. I may not do it,” Trump told reporters outside the White House when asked about attacking Iran. “Nobody knows what I’m going to do.”
Meanwhile, Russia has urged the United States against launching any military action on Iran, warning that such a move could severely destabilize the Middle East, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Moscow has expressed concern over Israeli airstrikes, suggesting they pose a risk of sparking a nuclear disaster.
