Adani Group announced a $100 billion commitment through 2035 to build renewable-powered, AI-enabled data centers, positioning India to become a major player in global digital infrastructure.
The initiative aims to make India home to the world’s largest unified data center network, a move that could reshape the country’s standing in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Company officials said this investment is expected to generate an additional $150 billion in spending across related fields over the next ten years, such as sovereign cloud services and server production. Adani projects the creation of a $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem in India as a result of its plans.
This announcement aligns with the start of the AI Impact Summit, a five-day event bringing international technology leaders to India for the Global South’s first major AI conference. The timing underscores India’s strategy to accelerate its AI capabilities and infrastructure amid increasing global competition.
Adani’s approach will build on AdaniConneX’s current 2-gigawatt network, with plans to expand capacity to 5 gigawatts to establish the world’s largest integrated data center system. The group confirmed it is also exploring partnerships to roll out new large-scale campuses across the country, though specific partners or timelines were not disclosed.
Google had previously outlined a $15 billion investment in the Indian market, including an AI data center in Andhra Pradesh. That project could involve up to $5 billion in opportunities for AdaniConneX, Adani’s joint venture with EdgeConneX.
