The 2025 Buick LPGA Shanghai — a tournament on the LPGA Tour with a total purse of USD 2.20 million (about THB 71.4 million) — was held at Qizhong Garden Golf Club (par-72) on the outskirts of Shanghai, China. The format was 72 holes of stroke play with no cut. It was the first event of the fall Asian swing, leading into stops in South Korea, Malaysia and Japan.
After the final round on Sunday, October 12, Minami Katsu of Japan — who had been the overnight leader — carded another 7-under 65 for a total of 24-under 264.
Meanwhile, “Jeeno” Atthaya Thitikul — the world No.1 ranked Thai pro, aged 22, who already had five LPGA victories to her name — had begun the day trailing by two strokes. She put on an excellent determination despite being as far as four strokes back during the round, she had three straight birdies on holes 14, 15 and 16, and then holed an eagle at the 17th to tie Katsu at 24-under 264.
The two then went to a playoff at the 18th hole. On the first playoff hole, both made par. On the second, Jeeno’s drive went into the water, but she still salvaged par to stay tied. They continued: the 3rd playoff at hole 10, the 4th at hole 18, and finally, on the 5th playoff hole, Jeeno sank a birdie putt to win — claiming her second title of the season and the 6th LPGA title of her career.
In the field of other Thai players:
