AOT Gains CAAT Approval for SAT-1 Ground Service Fees to Support Revenue and Sustainability Goals

Miss Paweena Jariyathitipong, Acting President of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (SET: AOT), stated that the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has approved the service charges for the 400 Hz aircraft power supply system and the PC-AIR air-conditioning system. These services are part of the ground support equipment (GSE) and maintenance facility operations at Satellite Terminal 1 (SAT-1) of Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Previously, service charges for the 400 Hz power supply and PC-AIR systems only covered the main terminal building and did not include the newly constructed SAT-1. These services are necessary for airlines when parking at the terminal, enhancing both airline service efficiency and accommodating growing air travel demand. AOT began providing these services at SAT-1 on September 28, 2023.

Currently, around 30 airlines use SAT-1 each month, accounting for roughly 2,000 flight operations monthly. AOT expects these new service charges will generate additional revenue of over THB 300 million per year, with potential for further growth as airline usage increases.

Miss Paweena added that the service charges will contribute to non-aeronautical revenue growth, aligning with the sustained increase in airline traffic at Suvarnabhumi Airport. This strategy supports the development of more efficient income sources.

These services are standard offerings at leading international airports, helping to reduce energy usage, greenhouse gas emissions, and both air and noise pollution from aircraft ground power units. AOT places great importance on addressing environmental and community impacts, as part of its commitment to long-term sustainable development and its vision to position Suvarnabhumi as the regional aviation hub in the future.
