Although the U.S. is pushing for a ceasefire in Gaza, the Israel recent attacks against the Hamas group did not seem to reveal a positive development
On Monday, Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister, Ron Dermer, is expected to arrive in the U.S. to discuss a Gaza ceasefire, Iran, and possible wider diplomatic deals. This came after U.S. President Donald Trump called for a truce in Gaza.
However, before the trip to the U.S., Israel began an attack which was considered to be the one of the worst bombardment in weeks. According to Reuters’ sources, Israeli tanks were attacking several areas in the north, while aircraft bombed at least four schools.
According to the health authorities, at least 25 people were killed in these strikes despite Israel’s early order for evacuation. The military claimed that it is combating Hamas militants in the area and ordering civilians to head south.
The truce between two sides seems to not make any significant progress. Hamas stated that this armistice would depend on Israel’s position and its agreement to withdraw from Gaza while Israel stated the end of the war would happen when Hamas is disarmed and dismantled.
