Today (November 10), Government Spokesman Siripong Angkasakulkiat announced that Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul had received a report from the Royal Thai Army regarding an incident in which two Thai soldiers were injured by a landmine in Huai Ta Maria, Si Sa Ket province. The injured soldiers have been sent for medical treatment.
The prime minister expressed deep concern over the matter and instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence to submit a formal protest to the Interim Observer Team (IOT), insisting that all necessary steps be taken.
Prime Minister Anutin also directed the armed forces and related agencies to provide full medical care for the injured soldiers, extended his support to all troops posted along the border, and requested continuous updates on the situation.
Defence Minister Gen. Natthaphon Narkphanit stated that letters of protest would be sent to the observer group, including observers from the United States, noting that the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) is already present in the area.
He confirmed that all actions related to the signing of the pact between the Thai and Cambodian prime ministers will be put on hold, as approved by the Thai prime minister.
