Thailand’s Bureau of the Royal Household announced that on Friday, 24th October 2025, at 21:21, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother passed away peacefully at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society, at the age of 93.
Since 17th October 2025, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother had been unwell due to septicemia. Although the medical team provided the utmost care, Her Majesty’s condition progressively deteriorated and eventually led to her passing.
As requested by the attending physicians, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother was graciously transferred to King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society, since 7th September 2019 for monitoring of various systems in the body. During Her Majesty’s residence at the hospital, Her Majesty was unwell on several occasions, and the medical team detected multiple system disorders, which required ongoing treatment.
His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua has issued a Royal Command for the Bureau of the Royal Household to arrange the royal funeral with the highest honours according to royal tradition, and to place the royal remains at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace in Bangkok.
In addition, His Majesty graciously granted that members of the royal family and court officials be in mourning for the period of one year from the date of passing.
