Mr. Chartsiri Sophonpanich, President and Member of the Board of Executive Directors of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited (SET: BBL), and Dr. Harald Link, Group President of B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited (SET: BGRIM), visited the construction site of the offshore wind power project in Yeonggwang County, South Korea.
BBL, one of Thailand’s largest private commercial banks, in collaboration with leading Thai energy company, BGRIM, is considering expanding its investment in South Korea’s renewable energy and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors.
On September 10, 2025, Nakwol BlueHeart Co., Ltd., the developer of a large-scale offshore wind farm project under construction in Nakwol-myeon, Yeonggwang County, Jeollanam-do, South Korea, announced that Mr. Chartsiri, President of BBL, together with his executive team, visited the project site as part of their trip to South Korea from September 9–13, 2025. BBL is considering providing financial support of over KRW 600 billion for the project’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC Financing).
As of the end of August 2025, the Yeonggwang Nakwol offshore wind farm’s overall progress had exceeded 62%.
During the site visit, executives from BBL and BGRIM closely reviewed the project’s advancements. This offshore wind farm is situated in the waters around Songi Island, Nakwol-myeon, and will install 64 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5.7 megawatts, for a total installed capacity of 364.8 megawatts. The project aims to commence partial commercial operations (91.2 megawatts) by the end of this year, with full commercial operations scheduled for June 2026 onwards.
Dr. Harald, Group President of BGRIM and the project’s second-largest shareholder, joined Mr. Chartsiri in the site visit, reaffirming their joint commitment to driving the project’s success.
According to a statement from Nakwol BlueHeart, BBL and BGRIM are not only supporting the offshore wind power project but are also exploring further investment opportunities in other types of renewable energy and AI projects in South Korea.
